Domestic Violence Intervention of Fallon hopes that all communities are staying safe and healthy during the COVID-19 pandemic. We recognize the need to isolate and the importance of staying home during this critical time.
However, home is not always safe for everyone.
Unfortunately, COVID-19 has forced many victims of domestic and family violence inside their homes with their abuser and to potentially face increased threats of verbal and physical harm.
The pandemic and self-isolation have cut off a victim’s sense of relief and normalcy, be it shopping, going to the park or visiting with friends and family. Not only that, the coronavirus outbreak has crushed the chance for a victims’ exit plan or strategy to do so.
With the torrent of new stress – unemployment, closing of schools and businesses, fear of sickness, fear of dying – it has all added up to a perfect storm of intensified risk of abuse for a victim and social isolation for an offender. Despite our office being closed during this difficult time, DVI is still available to help clients and survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. If you, a friend or family member need our assistance, please call our office at (775) 423-1313 or call or text our 24/7 crisis line at 775-427-1500.
